Win an all-expenses-paid trip to the nation's capital.

Arvig is holding an essay contest to send one area student to visit Washington, D.C., for the Foundation for Rural Services (FRS) Youth Tour, Wednesday, May 31st through Sunday, June 4th. The chosen student will be one of more than 100 high school students from rural America who will win an all-expenses-paid trip to explore our nation’s capital, and get an inside look at the legislation and governmental process of the telecommunications industry.

The essay prompt for the contest is “Technology and Rural Life.” Interested students should submit their essay, along with completed application forms, to Arvig via email before 11:59 p.m., Friday, March 3rd. You can download the essay contest requirements and application forms below.

Students must be high school students, age 15, 16, or 17 at the time of the Youth Tour in June 2020 (FRS will not accept any student age 18 or over), and must receive Arvig internet, telephone and/or television services at their residence. Essays will be reviewed by Arvig representatives and a winner will be selected and notified the week of April 3rd. 2023.

The FRS Youth Tour:

+ Offers rural students an inside look at the telecommunications industry
+ Educates students about the legislative and governmental process
+ Gives students the opportunity to experience the nation’s capital and visit famous historical sites, including the Lincoln Memorial, the U.S. Capitol, Mount Vernon and Arlington National Cemetery.
+ Allows students to meet other youth from rural communities across the country and to form lasting friendships.
