Slow Internet?

Follow these step-by-step instructions to troubleshoot a slow internet connection.*

If you don't know the speed you are currently subscribed to, sign in to your account above. Look under your internet service to find your speed.

Step 1: Close all extra programs, power down all other devices that use the internet and perform a speed test.

Results within 10% of your subscribed download and upload speeds are what you can expect from your plan. If you'd like a better experience, upgrade to a faster speed. Click here to see which plans are available to you.

If the results are outside of 10%, continue to step 2.

 

Step 2: Perform a wired speed test. Plug one end of an ethernet cable into the ethernet port on your router and the other end into the ethernet port on your computer. Hard wiring your device directly to your internet connection generally helps increase speed performance.

If the results are outside of 10%, continue to step 3.

 

Step 3: Bypass the router. Plug one end of the ethernet cable into the ethernet port 1 on the modem and the other end into the ethernet port on your computer. Authenticate your modem, and run the speed test again.
